Generate a QR Code

This guide walks you through creating a single QR code linked to a UPI payment address. You'll choose a merchant, enter the payment details, and download the finished code — ready to print or share.

Before you start

Make sure you have:

  • An active qr-app account (see Getting Started)
  • At least one merchant set up on your account (your admin configures these for you)
  • Remaining QR code slots — you can check your limit on the dashboard

Step by step

  1. Click Generate QR Code in the side menu.
  2. Choose a merchant from the dropdown. Once selected, the merchant's bank name, mode, and MCC appear below the dropdown so you can confirm you picked the right one.
  3. Enter the customer name — the person or business this QR code is for.
  4. Enter the VPA ID (Virtual Payment Address, e.g. name@bank). Each VPA can only be used once across all your QR codes.
  5. (Optional) Toggle amount on if you want to lock a fixed payment amount into the code. Leave it off for open-amount payments.
  6. (Optional) Add a description to help you remember what this code is for.
  7. Click Generate.

Your QR code appears on screen with the merchant name, customer name, VPA, and logos of supported payment apps (BHIM, Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, Amazon Pay).

Download your QR code

Click Download to save the QR code as an image file. The downloaded image includes all the branding and payment details shown on screen — ready to print on receipts, stickers, or signage.

Understanding your limits

Your account has a maximum number of QR codes you can create. The stats panel on the Generate QR Code screen shows:

StatWhat it means
QR Code AllocatedTotal codes your account is allowed to create
QR Codes GeneratedHow many you've used so far
Remaining QR CodeHow many you can still create

If you've hit your limit, contact your administrator to request more.

Tips

  • Double-check the VPA before generating. Once created, the VPA is locked to that QR code and can't be reused.
  • Use descriptive customer names. "Rajesh Kumar — Shop 12" is easier to find later than "Customer 1".
  • Leave amount blank for flexibility. Fixed-amount QR codes only accept that exact amount — open-amount codes let the payer choose.
